Dual Occupancy, House Renovation and Additions and Granny Flat in North Strathfield, Inner West, Sydney (Canada Bay Council)


The clients wanted to convert their dilapidated California Bungalow into two rental homes comprising the house renovation and additions and a separate granny flat in this complying development certificate project.


The granny flat was to be 60 square metres comprising two bedrooms, bathroom, laundry and kitchen, living, dining room area opening onto a small private terrace.


The house renovation and addition was to comprise three large bedrooms, an en suite, main bathroom, kitchen with walk in pantry, laundry and living and dining room opening onto a large deck.


North orientation was to be maximised as was light with large scale rooms required throughout.


The front face brick facade of the existing house was to be maintained and upgraded to retain the traditional appearance but with a clip lock roof to give it a more contemporary design.


The outcome for this luxury contemporary dual occupancy house renovation and alteration and granny flat was two separate dwellings built to high standards, custom designed to meet the client’s brief.
