Hunters Hill is an upmarket harbour front suburb on the lower north shore/inner west of Sydney with magnificent waterfront homes. The suburbs surrounding Hunters Hill are Woolwich, Huntleys Point, Henley, Gladesville, Tennyson Point and Ryde and is close to Riverview, Longueville, Abbotsford, Chiswick, Drummoyne and Five Dock.

Domus Homes achieved Development Approval for a major home renovation and addition and pool building project in Hunters Hill in the Hunters Hill Council area. The existing California cottage was too small for the family who requested a large master suite and a large open plan kitchen, living and dining area overlooking a pool. The challenge for the Domus Homes’ designer was to get northern light into the main bedroom master suite as well as the living area. This was cleverly achieved by renovating the front existing cottage and transforming it into the main entry, children’s bedroom and rumpus area, then creating a double storey new home addition “block” at the lower back area comprising a large master suite upstairs and an open plan living, dining, kitchen downstairs connected to the front “block” by a double storey glass faced passageway overlooking a large central courtyard. By creating this courtyard, it enabled the master suite and living area “block” to have north facing doors and windows whilst the opposite sides of these rooms overlooked the pool on the south side. The house was styled in a contemporary steel pitched roof and rendered wall finish to suit the existing California cottage.
